Jason Waz “El Capitan”, Founder and Chief
Jason developed an appreciation for SUP while vacationing with his family in Hawaii. Once he discovered what an “epic” workout he could get paddling, this appreciation quickly developed into an obsession. As the founder and owner of Competitive Edge Performance, a nationally acclaimed sports rehab facility, Jason is always looking for new ways to enhance his clients’ performance. Jason utilizes SUP for dynamic mobility and interval training with professional athletes, and physical therapy clients have reported relief from debilitating pain after taking up paddling. As the founder of SUPx, Jason is excited to join the movement forged by SUP pioneers over the years. With his competitive nature and demand for attention to detail, Jason promises you will experience the most physiologically sound and challenging workout on the water with SUPx.

Greg Hartney “First Mate”
Greg is a licensed physical therapy assistant and a certified fitness trainer, but above all is truly a waterman at heart with a passion for fitness and the outdoors. Having traveled multiple times to the homeland of paddle boarding, Hawaii, Greg has embraced the Aloha lifestyle and utilizes SUP for both fun and fitness on the water. He believes in helping people to achieve their fitness goals through new and innovative programs that break up the repetitive routine of typical workouts. Greg is always available to lend a helping hand no matter how big or small the task making him a great first mate. He combines his expertise in human movement with his love for the water to give SUPx clients a workout they won’t forget!
Taylor Sides “Hype Sergeant”
With a degree in Exercise Science and an ACSM certification specializing in health and fitness, Taylor is excited to bring group fitness out to the water with SUPx. As a former elite level gymnast, Taylor spent most of her time training at the gym while wishing to be outdoors. Now that she has retired from the sport, she has translated her strength and flexibility to the SUP world. Her passion for gymnastics combined with her years of experience on a board growing up in a “paddler family” brings a unique set of skills to the SUPx team. In addition to helping with exercise program design, Taylor assists with promotion of the SUPx program- always wearing a smile, hence the name “Hype Sergeant”. Taylor draws on her extensive dance, yoga and gymnastics training to develop a fun yet challenging workout on the water.
Eric Plevin “Fin Box”
Eric came on board with the SUPx crew in late 2015 and met “El Capitan” who worked with him while recovering from a near fatal motorcycle accident. This life changing accident left Eric with major injuries to his pelvis and he was unsure about the level of activity he would be able to return to. Eric has always lived an active lifestyle with a passion for adventure sports and alternative workouts. Once Jason started working with him on the paddle boards in the gym, and then transitioned to the water, Eric began to realize the benefits a SUP workout could have on anyone from elite athletes to those who don’t want to sit on the beach in a rocker. These workouts gave him the motivation to work his way up out of the wheelchair and allowed him to have fun getting back in shape. The low impact, high intensity workouts that paddle boarding provided helped him strengthen his core, improve his balance and provided the opportunity to get outdoors in a setting he loves again. Eric is honored to be part of this team and is excited for the chance to further the vision of SUPx.
